University of Nottingham, School of Veterinary Medicine and Science wishes to expand its veterinary pathology team with the appointment of a veterinary clinical pathologist. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development of future veterinary surgeons and veterinary clinical pathologists by sharing your knowledge and experience to ensure competence and inspire life-long learning in veterinary clinical pathology.

Based at the Sutton Bonington Campus, working with university pathologists and clinicians as well as clinicians in associate veterinary practices you will contribute to the development and delivery of year-5 clinical rotation teaching as well as to the delivery and assessment of relevant subject teaching in the first 4 years of the course.

Additionally, you will assist in the further development the School’s programme of postgraduate training in clinical pathology.

You will have a veterinary degree registrable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and will have completed a postgraduate training programme in veterinary clinical pathology or equivalent experience. You will have spent some years working in academic or commercial diagnostic service environments honing your diagnostic and communication skills.

The School of Veterinary Medicine operates a distributed clinical teaching model meaning that it does not operate a veterinary hospital of its own and consequently does not have its own dedicated clinical pathology service laboratory. However, several of our clinical associate practices have onsite labs to which you can offer support and guidance. Additionally, collaboration with our active diagnostic anatomic pathology service is encouraged and provides opportunity for investigations into cytology-histopathology corelates.

The School has a diverse range of research activities, facilities and equipment to support an enquiring mind. Collaboration with research teams will be encouraged.
