About us
The UCL Cancer Institute brings together over 300 scientists and collaborates closely with UCLH, the Royal Free Hospital, and partners in the Cancer Research UK City of London Centre. It supports both basic and translational cancer research.
UCL is part of the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC) network, enabling early-phase clinical trials of new cancer therapies. The Institute also hosts the NIHR Clinical Research Facility, focused on first-in-human trials, and works with the CRUK/UCL Clinical Trials Centre to strengthen clinical research.
The ECMC GCLP Facility, led by Professor John Hartley, develops and validates analytical methods for trials, ensuring compliance with international clinical and laboratory standards.
