About Us

The Medical Sciences Divisional Office team is a collaborative group of individuals, working across a diverse portfolio of activities. We value creative problem solvers and confident decision makers with a resilient streak. Our team is friendly, welcoming and supportive, and is a great environment to hone leadership and management skills while contributing to the impact of Oxford’s medical sciences research.

At the Department of Physiology Anatomy & Genetics (DPAG) we undertake discovery science where we reassemble physiological processes at the molecular, cellular, tissue and systems level of organisation. In so doing we provide a bridge to translational medicine, and interface between physical and life sciences. We are committed not only to innovative research and the highest standard of teaching, but also to creating an inclusive and supportive working environment.

Role Overview

The Medical Sciences Division is seeking to appoint a Departmental Project Delivery Manager to support DPAG during a major refurbishment of the Sherrington Building. This historic building will undergo extensive upgrades while remaining fully operational, with teaching and research activities continuing throughout.

In this pivotal role, you will act as the key link between the department and the capital project team, ensuring that plans are clearly communicated, internal relocations are effectively managed, and disruption is minimised. Responsibilities will include coordinating communications, overseeing soft services and FF&E procurement, supporting change management, and producing project documentation.

You will work closely with senior staff from DPAG, the Division, Estates, and external contractors to ensure successful delivery of the project. The ideal candidate will bring strong project management and analytical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and experience managing change and construction in live environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison between DPAG and the capital project team to ensure clear planning, coordination, and communication.
  • Lead internal relocations and minimise disruption to departmental operations.
  • Develop and implement a communications strategy to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
  • Monitor project progress, track actions, and ensure timely delivery of departmental requirements.
  • Support procurement and setup of soft services, furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E).
  • Collaborate with Estates Services, safety teams, and contractors to ensure safe and efficient occupation of refurbished spaces.
  • Assist with snagging, defects resolution, and post-completion support.
  • Build strong working relationships across the department and wider University.
  • Provide occasional support to other MSD projects as capacity allows.

The ideal candidate will bring strong project management and analytical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and experience managing change and construction in live environments.
