Job details
By joining the University of Lancashire, you’ll become part of a thriving community of talent that’s united by a shared vision – to transform the lives of our students and create prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve. Every colleague has a vital role to play in helping us achieve this vision.
About the role:
We seek to appoint a Lead for the Clinical Dental Technology course in our growing School to manage and deliver teaching across our Clinical Dental Technology and Dental Technician courses.
The Clinical Dental Technology Course Lead will be a member of the School's senior team and is expected to provide professional, collaborative leadership in undergraduate dentistry, building on past successes and ensuring consistent, excellent standards through a supportive and open culture. This will be underpinned by clear communication and robust quality assurance of standards.
The post holder will be directly responsible for the effective coordination and continuous improvement of the School's activities in learning, teaching, and assessment, as well as student experience, student success, employability, and student support, within their area of expertise. The postholder will provide academic leadership for the effective development and delivery of the Clinical Dental Technology curriculum and contribute to developing a research culture within the School.
About you:
We are seeking an exceptional teacher who understands the area, its current issues, priorities, and challenges, and can ensure that the Clinical Dental Technology course remains current, relevant, and evidence-based, thereby helping to prepare students for practice.
You will work with other senior members of the school teams to help establish the processes and culture necessary to achieve a high-quality student experience. You will understand the teaching and learning developments in the sector and, through evidence-informed decision-making, will be able to instil relevant approaches across the School to ensure our student experience is consistently outstanding. You will collaborate with the leads of other registrable courses to further develop an integrated approach to dental team education.
The successful applicant will hold an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area, a full current registration with the General Dental Council as a Clinical Dental Technician and a formal teaching qualification.
Applicants must meet all the essential criteria outlined in the person specification to be considered for an interview. This position is based in Preston.
What we can offer you:
Our people are our most important asset. We’ll encourage you to make the most of your talents and continually develop your skills and knowledge. As well as realising your career ambitions, you’ll be making a positive difference to other people’s lives. We also offer a fantastic package of rewards and lifestyle benefits – from an attractive annual leave entitlement to access to a comprehensive employee benefits platform.
