About Us

Our mission is to provide transformative, high-quality digital education, so students can learn, wherever they are.

We collaborate with academics and professional services staff across the university, and with our external partners, to design, develop and deliver a wide range of educational programmes.

Our learners study with us from across the world, choosing when and where they study, working around their schedules.

We are a dynamic team with ambitious growth targets in a priority area of development for King’s. We proudly foster a supportive culture and community which prioritises both individual and collective wellbeing.

Employee support at King’s includes flexible working arrangements, paid maternity/shared parental leave, an active wellbeing programme, training and development opportunities and much more. All our staff benefit from a generous pension contribution as well. As part of hybrid working at King’s, team members can work remotely for part of the week if they wish.

About The Role

The King’s Digital UXDev/Learning Technology team is a multidisciplinary team combining UX research, design, and web development expertise. We work collaboratively within and beyond the department to enhance our virtual learning environment for fully online learning. Our team maintains a modular in-house Design System for Moodle, built on Bootstrap, which enables content editors to create engaging, accessible, and consistent online learning experiences. We also lead on the integration of new technologies to support innovative teaching approaches—whether that’s helping students plan their studies more effectively or embedding tools that allow them to practise coding and data skills.

As an Educational Technologist, you’ll work closely with colleagues across Learning Technology and the wider King’s Digital team, blending technical and pedagogical expertise to ensure educational technologies enhance online teaching. You’ll contribute to and manage both strategic projects and day-to-day support, including troubleshooting, testing, training, and guidance—all aimed at improving the online learning experience.

While many of the tools we use are common across the sector, our context demands creativity, long-term thinking, and a strong focus on user experience. You’ll need to be able to tackle a wider range of technical systems and academic/production needs to support the implementation of high-quality, sustainable solutions. We are also connected to the central University by our systems and users, so the role requires a strong ability to think, collaborate and communicate across teams and departments to build the best possible online learning experience for our students.

This is a unique opportunity to join a unique sector-leading team and work alongside passionate, knowledgeable colleagues with a wide range of expertise, and really contribute to the development of excellent global online education.
