The role

We are seeking a talented Research Associate to join the vibrant interdisciplinary research team AMR Force and work full time (1.0 FTE) on a large collaborative research project on antimicrobial resistance in livestock in Wales. The position is initially for ~3 months with probable extension for up to 3 years.

Hybrid working is available as agreed with line manager on appointment.

What will you be doing?

You will:

  • Work with Welsh colleagues and veterinarians using a range of technical methods to collect data and evaluate antimicrobial use and resistance and their drivers on farms in Wales.
  • Act as a key point of contact for the combined epidemiological teams, including veterinarians, microbiologists and data collection experts.
  • Assist with higher level data analysis, report writing and will take part in impact events in Wales, including dissemination of outcomes to farmers, veterinarians, policy makers and other interested stakeholders, as well as academics.
  • Data analysis is expected to use standard as well as more complex, novel analytical approaches including multilevel models, and you will be expected to liaise with members of the team on database design and management.

You should apply if

You will ideally:

  • Have experience in the analysis of data including longitudinal AMR and AMU data in livestock and human population studies.
  • Hold a postgraduate degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or a related quantitative discipline (or working towards one).
  • Have experience of research, including the analysis of high-dimensional data and the application of sophisticated statistical methods, resulting in peer-reviewed journal publications.
  • Have experience and interest in public engagement activities.
  • Have experience of working in interdisciplinary teams and being able to manage multiple aspects to projects.
