Located on a beautiful parkland campus in southwest London, the University of Roehampton has a strong reputation for the quality of its teaching and research and for transforming the lives and career prospects of one of the most diverse student populations in the UK. For over 180 years, the University has been a pioneer in inclusive and transformative education and has been providing education to women longer than any other university in the country.
The University’s Strategy 2030: Growing Potential, Unlocking Success sets out an ambitious vision for the next decade, focusing on three key themes: student education, research and engagement and sustainable investment. Technology is central to delivering this strategy. Through digital transformation, Roehampton is committed to enhancing how it teaches, researches and supports its community.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the new Chief Information Officer (CIO) will lead the development and delivery of a progressive digital and data strategy that enables academic excellence, operational efficiency and institutional resilience. You will oversee IT Services, AV and Technical Services and Cyber Services, leading a team of around 75 people and managing an operating budget of approximately £8 million.
This is a role for a leader who combines strategic vision with a strong sense of delivery and value. The CIO will ensure that digital services are efficient, reliable and customer-focused and that every investment delivers measurable benefit to students, staff and researchers. You will champion innovation while driving improved performance, governance and service quality across the IT operation.
The successful candidate will be an inclusive and forward-thinking technology leader with a strong track record of both digital transformation and operational excellence. You will bring creativity and commercial awareness, balancing ambition with affordability in a resource-conscious environment. Experience of higher education would be advantageous, but not essential.
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the country’s most progressive universities and to make a lasting impact on its digital capability, service quality and overall student experience.
