The University of Kent student support and Wellbeing team is looking to recruit to our pool of sessional Specialist Wellbeing Mentors, providing one to one hourly support to students. Pay band: 8 £26.38 per hour including holiday uplift.
Specialist mentors provide non-medical 1:1 support for students with mental health difficulties, students with autism and/or ADHD. This includes supporting students to develop in HE, coping with anxiety, time management skills and organising their workloads.
The Specialist Mentor is there to support students in understanding what is required of them academically in HE.
Our Specialist Mentors need to have in depth knowledge and experience of supporting difficulties around mental health and other related issues and an understanding of the demands of study in HE; and be able to recognise when there is a need to refer to others.
Applicants for the role are required to be educated to degree level or equivalent, have counselling skills and current membership of a professional organisation such as: BACP, UMHAN
The hours for this role are not pre-set and can be agreed with the line manager prior to commencing the role and reviewed each term. We do ask that you work a minimum 6 hours a week during term time.
