Summary

Seeking a highly qualified professional with expertise leading academic teams in the health sciences field to join the CDUTCM-Keele Joint Health and Medical Sciences Institute. You will be joining an exciting, dedicated teaching facility on the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s Wenjiang campus in Chengdu, China. The Joint Institute welcomed its first students in September 2023 and is managed by a team with many years of experience delivering Sino-British transnational education programmes in China. Keele University Subject Experts and Programme Directors support the implementation of two programmes: BSc in Public Health Management and BSc Rehabilitation and Exercise Therapy.

Details of the Position

The position is a full-time position based predominantly in Chengdu, a modern, convenient affordable city in Southwest China. The successful candidate will work closely with the existing management, teaching and administrative teams at the Joint Institute and within both Keele University and Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as building strategic links with local industry to ensure the quality of teaching and assessment, student experience and the successful long-term development of the programmes. You will help build research capacity for the institute and contribute to teaching in your subject area..

You will have a strong understanding of modern best practices in UK Higher Education as well as being highly qualified in your subject area. You will lead and mentor faculty, proactively identify and address teaching quality issues and ensure that the curriculum remains relevant to evolving industry needs whilst implementing advanced UK pedagogy and assessment methods. You will be comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and across diverse cultures.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • A PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area.
  • Senior leadership and teaching experience in transnational education or UK higher education.
  • A strong understanding of UK Quality Assurance processes.
  • Evidence of curriculum design experience.
  • Experience contextualising programmes of learning for an international context.
  • Experience leading and managing change.
  • Shown support and engagement in continued professional development.
