In collaboration with its partners, The University of Wolverhampton is planning to open a new and innovative medical school in the Black Country, taking its first students in 2027 (subject to GMC approval).
The University is now seeking to recruit a new Dean of Medicine for the Black Country Medical School. The Dean will have experience of senior strategic leadership in a UK Medical School and will be responsible for leading the School through the regulatory process to secure Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ) awarding rights and attract Office for Students funding for home (UK) medical student places.
The Dean will be required to cultivate and develop existing and new partnerships with key NHS bodies including local Trusts, the ICS, public health, and the third sector and will support the University’s Research Strategy, which will include supervision of the Clinical Trials Unit.
This role will be attractive to experienced individuals with a passion for establishing a new Medical School, a passion for creating opportunity and a genuine commitment to EDI.
This is a full-time role. However, for clinically qualified candidates, a 0.8 WTE commitment will be considered to allow continuation of clinical practice alongside the role.
