Brunel University London was established in 1966 and is a leading multidisciplinary research-intensive technology university delivering economic, social and cultural benefits. For more information please visit: https://www.brunel.ac.uk/about/our-history/home.

Our mission is to deliver a transformative education experience that nurtures talent, encourages creativity and scholarship and fosters lifelong learning through enquiry, and to bring benefit to society through excellence in education, research and knowledge transfer.

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow/Research Assistant to join the Heat Pipe Research Group at Brunel University London. The Research Fellow will play a central role in advancing the modelling and simulation activities of the PRIM-ROCK Project, an EU-funded initiative focused on Multiphysics systems and computational methods. Working under the guidance of the relevant academic lead, the postholder will be responsible for developing, implementing, and validating computational models, conducting rigorous simulation studies, and contributing to the scientific interpretation of modelling results.

The Research Fellow/Research Assistant will be a key contributor to the project’s scientific outputs, supporting the preparation of technical deliverables, research reports, and milestone documentation required by the European Commission. The role involves close collaboration with internal academic teams and European partners to ensure that simulation work packages are delivered to a high standard and integrated effectively into the broader scientific and technical objectives of the consortium.

This is a hands-on research position involving advanced Multiphysics simulation tools, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the maintenance of high-quality research documentation. In addition to modelling responsibilities, the Research Fellow/Research Assistant will contribute to dissemination activities, including publications, presentations, and the preparation of materials for project meetings, workshops, and reviews. The postholder will also support the coordination of research communication channels to enhance the visibility and impact of the College’s work in computational modelling.

The successful applicant will join the Heat Pipe and Thermal Management Research Group, led by Professor Hussam Jouhara, and will work in close partnership with European collaborators to deliver the modelling tasks central to the PRIM-ROCK Project. The Research Fellow/Research Assistant will be directly responsible for simulation-focused work packages, ensuring alignment with scientific objectives, contributing to methodological development, and supporting the integration of modelling outputs into reporting and dissemination. The role provides an excellent opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented researcher with experience in simulation-based research, particularly in Multiphysics modelling, and a strong interest in applied engineering and computational science.

Closing date for applications: 10 December 2025
