Lecturer in Sport – FT (12-month FTC)

HOURS: Full time (37.5 per week)

LOCATION: UA92 Campuses Manchester

Interview Process: 1st stage week commencing 15th December: Shortlisted applicants asked to engage in 3–5-minute video (MS Teams) remote interview. 2nd Stage week commencing 5th Jan 2026:  Successful applicants attend an in-person interview.

About the role 

The Lecturer role is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering assigned modules using high-quality learning materials, engaging activities, and digital technologies that support both accessibility and an enhanced learning experience. A core part of the position is ensuring that students benefit from effective teaching, meaningful assessment, well-planned curriculum development, and individual academic support. 

What you’ll do 

  • Design, develop, and deliver engaging Sport modules using high-quality learning resources, interactive activities, and digital technologies to enhance accessibility and student success.
  • Provide an excellent learning experience through effective teaching, meaningful assessment, curriculum development, and personalised learner support across a range of sport-related subject areas.
  • Work collaboratively with industry and employer partners to ensure the Sport curriculum remains current, professionally relevant, and reflective of evolving practices across one or more of our Sport programme offerings Contribute to student recruitment and progression, supporting aspiration-raising activities and helping to build strong, sustainable cohorts across and Sport programmes.
  • Collaborate with the Course Leader(s) and the World of Sport academic team, including the Head of Department to shape and refine Sport modules, embedding effective pedagogy and delivering high-quality teaching at undergraduate level. 

What we are looking for:

  • An Honours degree in a relevant discipline and/or professional qualifications. A commitment to working towards a relevant postgraduate or teaching qualification (e.g. PGCert, HEA Fellowship).
  • The ability to teach across a broad range of sport-related topics and levels.
  • Experience (or strong potential) in higher education teaching, particularly in practical and applied learning contexts.
  • Confidence using digital platforms and tools to enhance the student experience.
