UGM Manchester is a student-centred Higher Education provider in the heart of Manchester, with a focus on high quality teaching and assessment, and an inclusive, business-like culture. As we expand our range of undergraduate programmes, we are looking to recruit a Deputy Head of Education to assist in maintaining the quality of educational delivery across a range of programmes, including business, marketing, computing, finance and accounting, and health and social care.
We are seeking an experienced academic with a proven track-record of successful module and programme leadership looking to take their next step in academic management. As Deputy Head of Education, the successful candidate will be responsible for helping to line-manage our 50+ strong academic team, quality assure our learning and teaching resources and assessment strategy, and problem-solve any day-to-day operational frictions.
The Deputy Head of Education will also be responsible for overseeing our non-standard provision and will be on duty on Tuesday and Thursday evenings during term-time, for which they will receive a day-off in lieu. The Deputy Head of Education will also take part in the Saturday management roster alongside Programme Leaders, the Head of Education, and the Dean. Again, days-off in lieu will be granted when required to work on a Saturday.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, reliable, proactive, calm under pressure, and have an eye for detail. They will have a broad understanding of pedagogy and andragogy and be capable of working in a high-tempo, agile environment.
Salaries are competitive and based on candidates' qualifications, experience, and utility. Fellowship of the HEA or an undertaking to achieving this will be an advantage. You will be articulate, and qualified to Masters level. Professional status/accreditation will also be an advantage. We operate three trimesters per academic year. Candidates must have an unrestricted right to live and work in the United Kingdom without caveat.
