Job description:
We have an exciting Postdoctoral opportunity at the University of Sheffield: Research Associate (postdoc) in Biophysics - Ultrafast spectroscopy! This is a fully funded two-year position that can be extended for an additional year.
We are looking for someone passionate about biophysics, specifically, proton transfer reactions. Join our innovative project, hosted at the prestigious University of Sheffield, under the supervision of Prof. Nadav Amdursky. This exciting research addresses two critical and interlinked biological phenomena associated with bacterial plasma membranes: (i) the biophysical processes that couple respiration to ATP production by the F1Fo ATP synthase, and (ii) the sensitivity of bacteria to membrane-targeting antibacterial compounds.
Skills and Techniques Involved and Required:
The project is interdisciplinary, with applications across biophysics, biology, and physical chemistry. You will also receive training in existing advanced time-resolved systems situated at the University of Sheffield.
You will be joining a vibrant, supportive, and internationally recognised research group at the University of Sheffield, a leader in sustainability research. Under the guidance of Prof. Nadav Amdursky, an expert in biophysics, you will be exposed to world-class expertise in the development and application of new methodologies to explore proton transfer reactions.
