Head of the Faculty of Business and Law

De Montfort University Dubai is seeking an academically qualified and experienced individual to join as Head of the Faculty of Business and Law. This senior leadership role is ideal for professionals committed to academic excellence, faculty development, and strategic leadership in Higher Education.

The Head of Faculty will provide overall leadership and management of the faculty, overseeing teaching and learning across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, research, enterprise, and curriculum development. The post holder will work closely with the Head of Dubai Campus, Subject Leads/Heads, and UK Link Tutors, while supporting institutional growth and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage faculty teams, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, workload allocation, objective setting, and appraisals.
• Oversee curriculum development and ensure programmes align with DMU academic policies and Dubai regulatory requirements (KHDA).
• Support the DMU teaching and learning strategy, staff development, and student engagement initiatives.
• Act as a role model and mentor for academic staff and students, promoting teaching excellence and scholarly activity.
• Participate in academic committees, faculty meetings, and university governance activities.
• Contribute to research, professional practice, and knowledge exchange to enhance the faculty and university’s reputation.
• Ensure compliance with equality, diversity, and inclusion plans, as well as health and safety requirements.
• Support university events such as Open Days, graduation ceremonies, and community engagement initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

• Ideally minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Higher Education academic leadership role.
• Ideally 10+ years of progressive academic experience, including leadership, curriculum oversight, and staff management.
• PhD in a relevant field – Required
• Master’s degree in a relevant field – Required
• Teaching qualification or HEA professional recognition – Preferred
• Proven experience in Higher Education teaching and academic management
• Evidence of curriculum development, quality assurance, and academic leadership
• Strong record of research, knowledge exchange, or professional practice
• Ability to mentor and lead academic teams, fostering innovation, collaboration, and student success
