About us

UCL Energy Institute - Our aim is to help to build a globally sustainable energy system, by bringing to bear multiple disciplinary perspectives to observe, analyse, model and interpret energy use and energy systems.

The Smart Energy Research Group (SERG) - is a thriving research group that primarily conducts data-driven research relating to energy and residential buildings. We have a range of UK and international research projects and evaluation studies funded by research councils, government and industry.

About the role

The main purpose of the role is to undertake research across the Smart Energy Research Group’s range of projects relating to energy use in residential buildings.

Developing and maintaining SERG’s data assets via best practice data management (e.g., data quality, data linking) processes to ensure SERG data is research-ready and fit for purpose is also a key aspect of this role.

This role will be required to engage with SERG partners (particularly the EDOL team at the University of Oxford), and a range of SERG stakeholders, including government (DESNZ), industry and academic organisations.

This post is available immediately and is funded to January 2027 in the first instance; further funding to support the post may become available.

About you

The successful applicant will have a degree with a strong data science, statistical or quantitative research component and/or similar experience in a comparable working environment. The candidate should have demonstrable applied experience of managing and analysing data in a rigorous manner and experience in undertaking data-driven research in relation to energy and buildings.
