Animal Free Research UK is the leading charity working to create a world where human diseases are cured faster without animal suffering. Through the Centre for Human Specific Research, our national hub for human-specific, animal-free science, we are driving a step change in how medical research is conducted across academia and industry. 

We are looking for a Science Community Manager to help build a vibrant, engaged community of practice supporting scientists, innovators and grantees working in human-specific research. 

About the Role

This is a new strategic role that will:

  • lead the development of our online scientific community, managing forum activity and delivering an annual engagement plan
  • coordinate regional scientific networksacross the UK, including meetups, workshops and lab visits
  • support key scientific programmes, including the Scientific Advisory Panel, national conference, awards and grant funding
  • strengthen connectionsbetween researchers, organisations and programmes to accelerate the transition to human-specific research
  • contribute to knowledge exchange, content creation and the visibility of human-specific science

You will work closely with colleagues to strengthen collaboration, support innovation and grow the UK community of scientists working on new approach methodologies. 

About You

We are looking for someone who brings:

  • experience in community management, research engagement or network development
  • understanding of how research is conducted and funded in academic or industry settings
  • strong written and verbal communication skills
  • a PhD (or equivalent research experience) in a relevant field
  • a commitment to advancing human-specific, animal-free science
