The Role
We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a permanent Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor to make a significant contribution to the delivery of teaching on our highly successful MSc Clinical Applications of Psychology, as well as research/knowledge exchange in the area of mental health, clinical and counselling psychology. You will plan, deliver teaching and assess modules on the MSc Clinical Applications of Psychology programme and contribute to undergraduate modules with a focus on mental health including Counselling modules on our new BSc Psychology with Counselling degree. Using a variety of technologies and approaches, you will deliver a vibrant education that translates into real-world skills and supports students in their journey in becoming critical-thinking professionals. The ability to contribute to teaching and supervision of student research projects in the area of mental health, clinical/counselling psychology is essential. You will be at the heart of a dynamic psychology department with a strong reputation for developing successful, research-led programmes and will benefit from membership of one or more of our Departmental Research Groups working with colleagues engaged in internationally excellent research and knowledge exchange activity.
The Person
You will hold or have submitted your PhD or doctorate in the field of psychology with expertise in mental health (e.g. PhD in the area of mental health/clinical psychology, DPsych Clinical/Counselling psychology). You will need to have a broad based understanding of a range of mental health presentations and assessment and treatment modalities to address the presented issues. On a personal level, going above and beyond to deliver exceptional teaching and support to our students will be your core motivation. You will use your experience of working in Psychology to promote integrated professional practice across everything you do, imparting practical knowledge to students that they will take with them in their future careers. Constantly seeking to improve, you will scrutinise your own work, build internal and external networks, and work collaboratively to enhance the faculty's reputation in higher education and the wider local community and beyond.

This is a full time, permanent academic position with a starting salary of £50,160.00 per annum for a Senior Lecturer or £60,996 per annum for an Associate Professor post depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant. Interviews are due to be held in person on week commencing 2 February 2025.
