The University of Aberdeen is seeking to appoint a Professor to lead the Mathematics discipline at its new Mumbai Campus, launching August 2026. This senior academic role combines teaching, research, and leadership, reporting to the Academic Provost and working closely with the Campus Leadership Team to shape the strategic direction of Mathematics education.
The successful candidate will provide academic leadership, line management, and mentorship for all Mathematics staff, while ensuring alignment with the University of Aberdeen’s high academic standards. Responsibilities include curriculum design and delivery for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, supervision of student projects and dissertations, and contribution to research activities in areas such as algebra, topology, applied mathematics, and emerging fields like topological data analysis. Collaborative work with colleagues at the Aberdeen campus is expected, along with engagement with industry, NGOs, and other external partners.
Applicants should hold a PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field, with significant experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. A strong track record in research publication, grant applications, and PhD supervision is required, alongside experience in curriculum development and pedagogical innovation.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of Mathematics education in India within a globally recognised institution, ranked among the Top 250 universities worldwide. The role offers the chance to build a vibrant academic community and contribute to the University’s international mission.
