About the role

Are you interested about the gut and its microbiome, and how to study it? Would you like to help other researchers to learn about the cutting-edge technologies being used at the Imperial Organoid Facility? We are seeking a proactive and well-organised Assistant to support the training and outreach programmes of the Imperial BRC Organoid Facility and assist the Facility’s new Centre for Intestinal Systems. Background in gut biology and microbiome research is essential, as well as expertise in both experimental and computational laboratory methodologies. Experience in sample collection is desirable. If you have these demonstrated skills and you are interested about training and outreach, you will have the right scientific background and expertise to carry out this job.

What you would be doing

  • Develop course programs, organise speakers for the courses, and support the advertisement of the courses.
  • Prepare materials for the courses, documentation during and after the courses.
  • Actively seek topics for courses, and recommend course types (one-day, multi-day) in the area of gut modelling, microbiome and host-microbiome studies.
  • Prepare written summaries in lay terms about the organoid, microbiome and gut-on-chip work happening at the Organoid Facility.
  • Raise awareness of the work of the Organoid Facility to various stake-holders, including users, funders and patients via public engagement activities and materials.

  • Excellent skills in prioritising tasks, maintaining high standards, and providing organisational support for the training courses.
  • Proactive and effective communication skills to ensure the results and resources of the Imperial Organoid Facility is known for relevant people.
  • Excellent writing skills to create reports, course materials and communication summaries.
  • The ability to work on several projects at the same time, while delivering tasks to deadlines.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to work closely with Imperial teaching, academic, clinical and industrial partners.
