This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months initially, with possibility of extension (subject to funding)

The Economics of Environment and Energy (EEE) Programme, hosted in STICERD, gathers a dynamic group of researchers working on the interaction between human activity and the natural environment. We collaborate across LSE and beyond to bring together an international community of researchers and policy makers interested in these issues. We also help train the next generation of scholars working in this critical space.

The Research & Policy Director is a new role in the team that will be responsible for shaping and executing EEE’s research and policy agenda, as well as information dissemination, with a strong emphasis on sustainable growth, energy, and environmental economics. The role requires a leader with a strong research background, demonstrated experience in policy engagement and communications, and the ability to work effectively across academic, governmental, and civil society contexts globally.

The ideal candidate will require:

  • A postgraduate degree (master’s or PhD) in Economics or closely related discipline, e.g. Public Policy
  • Experience engaging with a range of high-level stakeholders – such as policymakers, government departments, multilaterals, and NGOs – to leverage use of research to inform and influence policy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex economic ideas clearly and persuasively to non-specialist audiences

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the next phase of this ambitious programme.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.
