DTU Civil and Mechanical Engineering at Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a position as Professor in Thermal Storage for Buildings and Communities. The professor will be affiliated to the Section for Energy and Services.
The Section for Energy and Services conduct research and teaching on the highest international level within the fields of energy efficient building technologies and energy systems for buildings, communities and cities. The section has a scientific staff of about 20 people.
The research of the professor should reinforce our expertise in thermal energy storage for buildings and communities, including the role of thermal storage in the energy system. This role is instrumental in attracting both funding and student talents to expand our activities in these areas. As a full professor in our department, you will be responsible for developing a pioneering team of research in this specific area and collaborating with colleagues in the department with relevant expertise on thermal energy systems.
Responsibilities and qualifications
The professor will have a leading role in the department’s research on thermal energy storage technologies and the future energy system to tackle the challenges towards future sustainable buildings, communities and cities.
It is the goal that the professor will strengthen research and innovation efforts within the research field at the Department by generating new research projects that involve other faculty members within the research group and attract PhD students. Research activities are also expected to be conducted in cooperation with relevant groups at the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, and more broadly at Technical University of Denmark and international research institutions. The successful candidate must demonstrate a proven track record of participating in interdisciplinary research activities, and in attracting and managing research projects, also in close collaboration with industry.
The professor must be an internationally acknowledged expert in the research field of Thermal Storage for Buildings and Communities and have significant teaching experience. The successful candidate must be an experienced self-driven scientist, with a keen eye for new developments in the general research field. The candidate’s ability to work collaboratively and foster a supportive, innovative learning environment is key to success.
