The role

We are seeking a motivated person for a Research Associate role on a project being led by members of Bristol Veterinary School (BVS) Veterinary Education Research group, collaborating with an international team on behalf of the Council on Veterinary Medical Education (CIVME). This position is funded by the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) for a research project entitled ‘Review of the CIVME educational research grants program’.  

The CIVME educational research grant program has been running for about 10 years. It is timely to conduct a research study to identify topics that such veterinary educational research projects could address to enhance veterinary medical education worldwide and identify barriers to, and support required for submission of grant applications.

The successful candidate will be involved in and contribute to all aspects of the project including conducting a literature review, co-designing and building an online survey, conducting online interviews, data analysis, co-production of outputs including reports, peer reviewed journal publication and conference abstract(s). The role will also involve working with the project team to manage the project timeline including organising and attending online meetings with the project team.

The work can be done entirely remotely / at home, and can be flexible e.g. the hours spread out during the week. It does not require 1 full (7 hour) or specific day every week.

What will you be doing?

Under close supervision and mentorship of BVS research team members:

  • Supporting the delivery of research project activities including
    • Research data collection and analysis
    • Working with other team members
  • Undertaking relevant organisation/administration associated with the research project.
  • Undertaking a range of project tasks as instructed and advised by Line Manager/Supervisor e.g. desktop research, online meetings,
  • Co-ordinating own work, dealing with problems as they arrive, escalating non-standard queries/issues to Line Manager/Supervisor. 
  • Collating, writing up, reporting and presenting information on progress and outcomes
