Main duties and responsibilities
You will be responsible for meeting with students face to face and remotely to discuss, recommend and agree reasonable adjustments. You will liaise with academics and professional services across the university to provide a holistic approach to supporting students with disabilities. You will record reasonable adjustments and support in a Study needs agreement, complete risk assessments, make referrals and support students throughout the Disabled students Allowance (DSA) application process.
Skills and experience required
You must have extensive experience of working within further or higher education in an advisory capacity working with students who disclose disabilities. You must be able to liaise with, and tactfully approach colleagues to challenge attitudes, influence practice and manage change effectively, and have a thorough understanding of the Equality Act. Confidence in working with students to obtain or continue DSA funding is essential. Confidential record keeping skills, attention to detail and an ability to problem solve are key skills required in this role. Experience of working across a number of software programmes and IT applications is required to ensure that our service is delivered in the most efficient manner possible.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of a Degree or equivalent level 6 qualification, or proven experience, and hold professional or academic qualifications or personal development that have developed knowledge and skills in the field of disability related reasonable adjustments.
