The Moving Image Workshop (MIW) Technician role is an exciting and challenging technical position that plays a vital role in supporting teaching, research, and enterprise at Kingston School of Art (KSA), and providing professional technical support in film, sound, edit, and animation production.

The role requires extensive knowledge of filming processes and techniques to deliver workshop-based training and demonstrations to groups of students or individuals.

The MIW Technician role involves daily responsibilities of supporting, supervising, and maintaining all studios of the MIW facility, ensuring Health and Safety regulations are always in place.

The Person

Kingston School of Art is looking for an experienced and highly skilled technician with a creative mindset, strong work ethic, who can work flexibly within the MIW technical team to deliver a high-quality, professional, and fully integrated technical service.

The successful candidate will have the appropriate moving image technical skills and will be an exceptional communicator with excellent time management skills, and proven ability to work collaboratively at all levels. Previous experience of how to operate a range of high-end professional camera equipment and demonstrate moving image processes and techniques, is essential.

The School’s research centres include the Centre for Practice Research in Art (CePRA), which supports interdisciplinary practice-led research across fine art, design and curatorial practices. Its work focuses on innovative creative methodologies, sustainability and cultural engagement.

KSA collaborates with major cultural institutions including Camden Art Centre, the Design Museum, the ICA and the BFI.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position, ending on 15 July 2026. With a starting salary of £34,007 per annum.

Alternative working patterns may be considered depending on the needs of the role and the workshop.
