The Department of Earth Sciences is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Research Grants and Finance Coordinator to support all aspects of research grant administration, including both pre-award and post-award processes in the Department.
Reporting to the Research Grants Manager, the post holder will be involved in the financial aspects of the research grants and process financial transactions using the University's financial system and working closely with the Department's Finance team. They will also provide support to the Principal Investigators (PIs), researchers and academics applying for funding opportunities.
The post involves contact with a wide variety of people, both internally within the Department and University, as well as externally, requiring regular communication and providing opportunities for collaborative work. Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of internal and external parties are therefore essential, alongside the ability to work as an effective team member. The successful candidate will possess exceptional organisational and time management skills, be able to remain calm under pressure, take initiative and be able to prioritise a diverse and changing workload. The ability to pay attention to detail and work to a high level of accuracy is also essential in this role.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level/Level 6 vocational qualifications or have an equivalent level of practical experience and be highly competent in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Access and Outlook). Knowledge of research grants with accounts-based experience is essential. An interest in the Department's research activities would be an advantage.
