This agile, autonomous structure allows us to push boundaries and foster closer partnerships, enabling us to scale our provision and widen access to rewarding careers across the health and social care sector.

The Role: Shaping the Future of Clinical Psychology

This is a pivotal moment to join us. As Assistant Professor (Teaching) for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, you will do more than teach, you will actively shape the clinical workforce of tomorrow.

Operating within our new agile structure, you will join a team dedicated to innovation, working across a collaboration between Coventry University, the University of Warwick, and NHS partners. You will champion a "student-first" culture, ensuring that our trainees do not just learn, but undergo a transformative educational experience that prepares them to lead in a changing healthcare landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pioneer Innovative Education: Lead the curation, design, and adaptation of high-impact teaching materials. You will move beyond traditional methods to embed "active learning" pedagogies, ensuring our curriculum remains responsive to real-world clinical challenges.
  • Lead & Inspire: Provide dynamic leadership to teaching teams and coordinate guest lecturers, fostering a collaborative environment that drives excellence in delivery.
  • Drive Digital Engagement: Harness the power of our social learning platform, Aula, to build a vibrant digital academic community, ensuring seamless communication and high engagement with trainees.
  • Champion Student Success: Act as a mentor and appraiser, providing crucial academic guidance and supervision to enhance trainee retention, progression, and future employability.
  • Assure Quality & Integrity: Oversee assessment rigour and moderation, upholding the highest standards of academic integrity to ensure our graduates are fully equipped for professional practice.
  • Bridge Theory & Practice: Work with colleagues to embed research, enterprise, and professional contexts into modules, ensuring a seamless flow between academic study and clinical application.

This role is strategically designed as a part-time opportunity to support a high-level portfolio career. We actively encourage you to maintain your external clinical hours alongside this position, ensuring you remain grounded in current practice while leading the next generation of psychologists.

Our Successful Candidate

Beyond credentials, you will be an innovator with a passion to share your expertise and empower the future of Clinical Psychology. You are an excellent teacher capable of engaging diverse student audiences at various levels, inspiring them not just to learn the course material but to challenge the norm and push the boundaries for the future.

You will be a qualified Clinical Psychologist holding a DClinPsy (or equivalent) with current HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist. You will bring a robust academic foundation to the team alongside either a formal teaching qualification or extensive experience in delivering professional/ university education.

We are looking for a practitioner with clinical leadership experience across a broad range of settings. A proven track record of successful teaching at HE levels 4–7, with evidence of supporting student success. A high level of digital fluency is essential; you will be comfortable using Virtual Learning Environments and designing engaging teaching materials for both face-to-face and online delivery.
