The successful candidate will undertake research duties to support the work programme of the Impact Delivery project ‘Tool for quantifying the long-term thermal imbalance of ground-source heat pumps’, including creating datasets for cooling demand profiles at individual dwelling and community levels, devising methods for forecasting cooling demand, and using specialist software to simulate community level cooling demand. The Research Assistant will support the integration of cooling demand data with numerical models of ground-source heat pump-based energy systems. The successful candidate will conduct work leading to the publishing of research outputs in high-quality research, pursue excellence in research, and inspire others to do the same.

The Centre for Integrated Renewable Energy Generation and Supply (CIREGS) was established in 2008 as a small multidisciplinary engineering research group with international expertise in both the supply and transmission of energy. The post is full-time (35 hours per week) and fixed-term starting ideally on 1st February 2026 for 8 months or until 30th August 2026 whichever date is earliest.
Salary: £33,951 - £36,636 per annum (Grade 5). We do not anticipate appointing this position above point Grade 5, Point 25, £33,951 per annum.
