The Centre for Climate Repair (CCR) is a multi-disciplinary centre hosted in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) and is focused on supporting research in three main areas: emissions reduction, greenhouse gas removal, and refreezing the Arctic.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and highly organised individual to join our team as a Student Engagement Coordinator. You will play a key role in developing and delivering opportunities for student engagement and collaboration across the University of Cambridge and beyond, helping to build an active and informed student community around the work of the Centre.
Working closely with the Programme Manager, the Research Engagement Coordinator, and the Communications Assistant, you will be responsible for creating and implementing the Centre's student engagement plan. You will support the delivery of student-focused events, workshops, and outreach activities, and contribute to raising the profile of CCR's research across the University through targeted communications and engagement initiatives.
This is an exciting time to join the Centre as we continue to expand our interdisciplinary research activity and strengthen connections across departments, colleges, and student networks. You will be part of a friendly and collaborative team, responsible for developing and sustaining relationships with a wide range of students, early-career researchers, student societies, and partner universities, both in Cambridge and across the UK.
This is a varied and rewarding role that would suit someone who enjoys working with people, is proactive and adaptable, and thrives on building communities and making connections. You will be an effective networker, confident in engaging individuals and groups at all levels, and creative in identifying new ways to involve students in CCR's research themes. You will also have experience in planning and delivering events and using communication channels to reach and engage student audiences.
All CCR staff follow a hybrid working pattern, and although CCR is located within the Department of Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) on Wilberforce Road, some travel to the Department of Engineering on Trumpington Street will be required.
A scientific background is not required for this role, but an interest in supporting research in this area would be beneficial.
We actively promote equality, diversity, and family-friendliness and are sympathetic to flexible working arrangements. Please feel free to discuss flexibility prior to applying (using the contact information below) or at your interview if your application is successful.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance with a contract extension, dependent on available funding.
Informal enquiries are welcomed and should be directed to Natalie Selwood, Centre for Climate Repair (nas56@cam.ac.uk). If you have any queries regarding the application process, please contact LE48323@maths.cam.ac.uk.
To apply online for this vacancy and to view further information about the role, please click the 'Apply' button above.
On the online form, you should clearly explain the reasons for your application, and indicate how your knowledge, skills and experience match the requirements of the role as described in the Further Particulars. The full contact details of two referees should be included; at least one of whom should be contactable if you are invited to attend an interview.
Interviews will be held shortly after the closing date.
The University actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society.
