Founded in 1882, The Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. Our excellence was recognised by the 2025 QS World University Rankings, in which we were ranked as the global No. 1 institution for both Music and Performing Arts. The College has held this world-leading place in Performing Arts for the four successive years, while Music is a new subject introduced to the rankings in 2024.
This position provides administrative support to the Deputy Director, who leads the College’s operations including its international work; the Director of Finance & Technology, who has responsibility for the RCM’s finances and digital provision; and Director of Estates, who oversees the day-to-day management of the estate as well as major capital projects. It involves contact with students, eminent musicians, many of whom are professors, the College’s international partners, and Council members, who come from a wide range of sectors. You will quickly become fully engaged with the strategic priorities of the College and you will also be expected to take responsibility for discrete projects, some events and other areas of work.
You will need excellent interpersonal, IT, communication and organisational skills, the ability to manage a varied workload and to work as a member of a fast-paced team. Strong administrative experience, including servicing of committees, is also required. An interest in classical music and higher education is desirable.
The Directorate Office is the administrative hub of the RCM and provides essential support to the College’s Directorate.
This post is offered on a permanent, full-time, basis and is available immediately.
