We are looking for an experienced medical educationalist to join the Senior Advising Team at Norwich Medical School. Student wellbeing, whilst preparing for the rigors of current day medical profession, lies at the heart of our curriculum. We want our students to enjoy learning medicine and strive to reach their full potential.
The focus of the role will be part of the Senior Advising team in the Department of Medical Education at Norwich Medical School supporting the professional courses at undergraduate level.
You will play an important role in coordinating support for students on several areas including academic, disability and pastoral issues to help equip students for the challenges of being a doctor.
Individual support will lie alongside other staff to enable students to access the wider opportunities offered by the University through Student Services, Occupational Health and outside professional agencies, and you’ll be expected to liaise closely with these services.
The role will facilitate adjustments that are recommended by Student Services and/or Occupational Health, or which are identified by the School within the programme of study, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. The role will also support individual students’ preparedness for and Fitness to practice process and, if supporting final year cohorts, the transfer of information process for students going onto Foundation Year Programme.
There is an expectation that you’ll deliver lectures and seminars, carry out teaching related duties, and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate marking /dissertations. You will also carry out a formal administrative role within the School and act as Academic Adviser.
A first degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area with experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and student assessment at all levels including coursework, examinations and undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations is essential.
Supervision experience at postgraduate level and experience in relevant enterprise and engagement activities would be advantageous.
This full-time post is available immediately on an indefinite basis.
