About the role
The University of Leicester’s Division of Cardiovascular Sciences is seeking a Research Associate to join our dynamic team within the Department of Medical Sciences. This part-time role (20 hours per week) offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to clinical research that aims to improve patient care and outcomes. Working under the supervision of Dr Pankaj Gupta, you will play a key role in coordinating patient recruitment, obtaining informed consent, and ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice and NHS research governance standards. Your responsibilities will include managing biological sample collection, conducting interviews and focus groups, and supporting data analysis and dissemination activities. You will also contribute to academic outputs and assist in developing future research proposals, helping to shape the next generation of impactful studies.
About you
You will be a registered healthcare professional, such as a nurse, pharmacist or allied health professional, with a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, alongside the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively. You will demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development and have experience working collaboratively within research teams. Familiarity with consent procedures and a willingness to undertake any necessary training is required. Above all, you will share our values of inclusivity, innovation and impact, and be motivated to contribute to research that makes a real difference to patients and healthcare systems.
