Applications are invited for an appointment as Lecturer in General Practice, on a .25FTE permanent contract in the School of Medicine, University of Galway.
We are looking for a talented general practitioner educator to take a key role in the delivery of GP education in our medical degree programmes.
The post is open for applications from qualified General Practitioners with MICGP or equivalent and a post graduate qualification in health professions education or registered for same. Applicants should have excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills, with a strong track record in medical student teaching, clinical placements and assessment. Applicants should ideally have research and publication experience.
The successful post holder will lead discrete aspects of the design, delivery, assessment and evaluation of the Discipline of General Practice's current undergraduate curriculum and future educational programmes. They will contribute to the participation of the Discipline of General Practice in the planned new direct entry medical curriculum (G31) and Graduate Entry Medical program (GEMS).
They will provide academic mentoring and pastoral support to students. The post holder will participate in research, and scholarly activity in primary care educational, clinical or health services research fields. As an active member of the Discipline of GP, the post holder will contribute to the administration of General Practice educational offerings, including clinical placements in the community.
