About the Role:
We are looking for a permanent Lecturer in Social Work to join a dedicated team across our successful Social Work suite of courses. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of the Social Work landscape and be able to contribute to the continued success of this subject area across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective and innovative development and delivery of Social Work related modules across the School's portfolio and help ensure enhancement of the student experience and student employability.
The Lecturer in Social Work role is a permanent part time position, and it is expected that this person will support the strategic direction of the University and School and will be expected to lead by example within the TEF/REF/KEF environments.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Lecturer in Social Work to join our dynamic team at Southampton Solent University.
In this role, you will deliver engaging, evidence-based teaching on Social Work programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level, drawing on your professional expertise to support students’ development as ethical, reflective practitioners.
Key responsibilities include designing and delivering high-quality lectures and seminars, supervising student placements, and providing academic and pastoral support. You will contribute to curriculum development, foster strong links with local authorities and voluntary agencies, and support a culture of inclusive, anti-oppressive practice. The postholder will also participate in research, scholarly activity, and departmental initiatives to innovate and enhance the student learning experience.
Applicants must hold a relevant degree, be registered as a social worker with Social Work England and have substantial professional practice experience. Experience in teaching or practice education, strong communication skills, and a commitment to professional development and social justice are essential.
