We are looking to appoint one lay member of Court with substantial knowledge and experience in digital technology, including cyber security and artificial intelligence from 1st August 2026. The lay member’s knowledge and experience will help Court understand how current and emerging technologies can be applied and scaled and how those technologies can help strengthen the University’s cyber resilience.
Our lay members bring independent judgement, external perspective, and specialist expertise to Court’s business. They help ensure that the highest standards of governance are delivered, as set out in the Scottish Code of Good Higher Education Governance.
This is an exciting time to be joining the University of Strathclyde as we work towards delivering against our Strategic Plan, Strathclyde 2030. Strathclyde was named UK University of the Year 2026 in the Daily Mail University Guide and Times Higher Education UK University of the Year in 2012 and 2019. We were awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education for our excellence in energy innovation in 2019, excellence in advanced manufacturing in 2021 and excellence, innovation and entrepreneurship in photonics in 2023.
If you are interested in joining us on Court at the University of Strathclyde, please consider putting an application in. Informal enquiries can be directed to the joint Heads of Governance, Chrissie Finnigan (christine.m.finnigan@strath.ac.uk) and Jan McGhie (jan.mcghie@strath.ac.uk).

We strongly encourage applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnicity, women, LGBT+, and disabled candidates and candidates from lower socio-economic groups and care-experienced backgrounds.
