Oxford Population Health (Nuffield Department of Population Health) contains world-renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. The Clinical Trial Service Unit (CTSU) is a major international research institute within the NDPH, and is one of the world’s leading centres for research into chronic diseases, such as cancer and heart disease.
We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to play a pivotal role in the Clinical Trial Service Unit (CTSU) at Oxford Population Health. You will lead requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation for large-scale clinical trials and major research projects, ensuring that IT systems meet the needs of world-class studies aimed at improving health outcomes globally.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with senior academic staff, principal investigators, developers, and external partners to deliver robust, compliant, and user-focused solutions. You will also manage a small team of business analysts and contribute to the development of standards and processes that support efficient and high-quality software delivery.
To be considered for the role, you will have a degree-level qualification or equivalent relevant professional experience, substantial demonstrable experience in analysing and managing requirements across complex IT projects, and knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile or Waterfall), along with proven leadership and line management skills. Further essential criteria include excellent presentation, organisational, and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to engage diverse stakeholders and provide effective problem-solving solutions.
A professional qualification in IT or software development, experience in clinical trials or medical research, familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g. ICH GCP, 21 CFR Part 11), and knowledge of clinical coding systems (e.g. CDISC, ICD) would be an advantage.
The position is full-time (although part-time is considered) and fixed-term for 2 years. The closing date for applications is noon on 19 February 2026.
You will be required to upload a CV and a Supporting Statement as part of your online application. The Supporting Statement should include a cover letter and should also clearly describe how you meet each of the selection criteria listed in the job description.
