Join Northumbria University at a pivotal moment in its journey, as we continue to drive transformation and make a lasting impact locally, nationally, and globally. As one of the UK’s leading research-intensive institutions, Northumbria is celebrated for its commitment to social purpose, academic excellence, and innovation. Our vibrant Newcastle campus sits at the heart of a dynamic city, fostering a diverse and inclusive community where ideas flourish and ambitions are realised. We are dedicated to delivering world-class research and transformative education, empowering individuals from all backgrounds to succeed and supporting organisations and communities to thrive. With a forward-thinking approach and a strong regional presence, Northumbria is shaping the future of higher education and making a lasting impact on society.
As Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, you will play a major role in shaping and directing the delivery of the University’s Vision, Strategy, and supporting plans. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive and working as a core member of the University Executive, you will provide leadership for the academic mission of the institution. You will oversee the development and performance of the academic portfolio and staff base, lead the faculties through the line management of Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellors, and drive major change and transformation programmes. You will also lead the University’s annual planning and resourcing processes, ensuring strategic alignment, sustainability and impact. You will also deputise for the Vice-Chancellor at events regionally, nationally and internationally as required.
You will bring a distinguished academic track record, with personal credibility and standing in a discipline relevant to the University, alongside substantial senior leadership experience gained in large, complex higher education environments. You will have a proven ability to advance academic strategy, lead organisational change and make institution wide decisions that deliver improved performance and outcomes. A collaborative and inclusive leader, you will inspire innovation, enable cross-disciplinary working and build strong relationships across the University and with external partners.
This is an opportunity to join a financially robust and forward-thinking university at a time of real momentum. If you share our ambition to do things differently, to lead with purpose and impact, and to help shape the future of higher education and research within a connected, inclusive and research-intensive university, we would be delighted to hear from you.
