The Fitzwilliam Museum: Opening up the past to transform our futures.
As the principal museum of the University of Cambridge and the largest cultural venue in the region, The Fitzwilliam Museum acts as a crucial bridge between the University, the City and the rest of the world, and has an international reputation for extraordinary research, world class exhibitions, award-winning public programmes and significant collections spanning many cultures and centuries. The Hamilton Kerr Institute (HKI) is one of the world's leading centres for teaching and research in conservation and heritage science.
We are seeking an Early Years & Schools Museum Educator to support the development and delivery of programmes for babies, toddlers and schoo age young people. The post holder will work across museum galleries, dedicated learning spaces and community settings in Cambridgeshire to deliver child led, discussion based sessions that use the collections to promote creative exploration and critical thinking.
The role involves collaborating with teachers, external specialists, artists, families and colleagues to design and prepare innovative sessions aligned with agreed learning outcomes. The post holder will contribute to evaluation processes, using established methodologies to evidence impact and support continuous improvement of the programme.
This position plays a key part in advancing the Museumâs vision and contributes to the four pillars of its Learning and Public Programme: Creating Opportunity, Society and Identity, Health and Wellbeing, and Environment.
To help support our staff to thrive both professionally and personally, we have adopted a system of hybrid working, meaning staff are empowered to split their time between in-person collaboration and remote working.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check, a security check and a standard Disclosure and Barring Service check.
