The role
We are now seeking to appoint a new Lecturer (0.6 FTE) to join an existing team who run the Bioscience Foundation Programme for a fixed term of 1 year, with opportunity to extend to 2 years. Since this programme will prepare students for direct entry into our degree programmes, prior experience of teaching at FHEQ levels 3-4 is essential. We are looking to appoint someone who is experienced in handling the challenges associated with transition to HE and shares the progressive and student-centred teaching philosophy of our existing team.
While the primary focus of the role is the Foundation Year, however, the successful candidate may also contribute, to the teaching, assessment and student support across other levels and programmes within the school.
This post represents part of our planned future growth and development as a School. If you take pride in providing high quality teaching, work to improve methods of delivery and assessment in your field of expertise and are a dynamic, forward thinking team player with a ‘can do’ attitude and an ambition to achieve personally then please get in touch.
The School has a long tradition of teaching across a breadth of Bioscience disciplines from Sport and Exercise Science, Nutrition, Food Science, and Dietetics to Biochemistry and Microbiology. Examples of our 9 undergraduate degree programmes include Biomedical Science, Biological Science and Veterinary Bioscience.
About you
Successful applicants will have at least a BSc in a relevant subject and be working towards or have a postgraduate qualification in addition to a teaching qualification (PGCE) or Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). They will have experience within Higher Education and/or Further Education and a proven track record of creativity and innovative educational practice.
