KS2 Teacher (part time 80.5%)

The Perse School - The Perse Prep

We are seeking well-qualified graduates for a teaching role, starting in September 2026. The Perse Prep employs a large number of subject specialist teachers and the ability to teach English across parts of the School would be an advantage. The pupils work above the expected level and, at the top end of the School, cover some aspects of KS3 work. The role is currently part-time. This will include around 29 lessons (80.5%FTE) over five days and involves being a full-time Form Teacher.

The Perse Prep sets the standard for independent schools in Cambridge, with a relaxed yet purposeful three form coeducational entry, for children between the ages of 7 and 11. For September 2026, an extra fourth class is being added to Year 6. Such a move bucks the national trend of declining independent school rolls and is a sign of The Perse's strength in the region.
The Prep is committed to helping the children develop as confident, smiling, interesting and interested individuals. With our strong academic edge, we attract an outstanding group of specialist staff who nurture in the children academic curiosity and a love of learning.

At The Perse School, we value the well-being of all staff and offer a supportive environment that balances professional ambitions with personal growth, opportunity and work-life balance.

Further details including how to apply can be obtained from our website via the 'Apply' button above.

Closing date: Thursday 12th February at midday but applications will be considered as they are received; The Perse School reserves the right to make an appointment before the closing date.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 24th February.

The School actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society.

Safer Recruitment

The Perse School recognises that an important element in safeguarding our pupils is a robust recruitment process that incorporates measures to deter, reject or identify people who might abuse children, or who are otherwise unsuited to work with them. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including: references from previous employers, a Disclosure and Barring Service check at the enhanced level, as well as eligibility to work in the UK (in compliance with UK immigration regulations). All work carried out at the School on a regular basis amounts to regulated activity.  This role is also exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone's responsibility. The School is committed to acting in the best interests of the child so as to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people. The School requires everyone who comes into contact with children and their families to share this commitment. Interviews will be conducted in person, and they will explore candidates’ suitability to work with children.
