Academic - Senior Lecturer (E&R)

University of Exeter – Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences

5 x Senior Lecturer in Law (Education and Research)

We are currently in the process of transitioning from our existing recruitment system to a new one. As part of this change, many of our current vacancies are still being advertised on our existing site. You can view these here. We appreciate your patience during this transition.

These full-time posts are available from 1st September 2026 on a permanent basis.

The starting salary will be from £51,753 to £58,225 on Grade G, depending on knowledge, skills and experience.

The Role in the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.

We are seeking to appoint FIVE new Senior Lecturers in Law. The Law School at Exeter is one of the UK’s leading law schools with an international reputation for world-leading research and teaching. As part of a comprehensive investment plan in the School, which covers new academic posts and investment in the real estate, we are seeking new colleagues who have expertise to support growth in our research power, and the expansion of our undergraduate and postgraduate portfolios.

We are especially interested in hearing from you if you can offer teaching and research in the field of Intellectual Property, to support the delivery of our new LLM in Intellectual Property & Technology. However, not all five appointments need to be in Intellectual Property, so if you can offer expertise in any of the areas covered by our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, we would very much like to hear from you. All colleagues are expected to offer teaching in one undergraduate core subject (Legal Foundations, Contract, Criminal Law, Constitutional & Administrative Law, Torts, Land Law, Equity & Trusts, EU Law).

About you
For a Senior Lecturer post you will have:

  • A PhD or equivalent in Law or a related discipline;
  • An independent research programme in a relevant active field of research, with an emerging international reputation;
  • Enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate programmes and proven ability to deliver effective teaching and student support;
  • Potential to engage with impact-generating or knowledge exchange activities outside the HE sector;
  • Strong potential for research leadership;
  • A track record of high-quality refereed publications and success in research grant capture
