The Impact Team are part of the Directorate of Research & Enterprise Services. We are seeking an experienced impact professional to help us build on our excellent results in REF2021 and maximise the benefits of our two UKRI Impact Acceleration Accounts. We are a friendly and inclusive team focused on increasing and demonstrating the social and economic benefits of the University’s wide-ranging research portfolio.
Main duties and responsibilities
The main purpose of this post is to proactively support the development of research impact at the University working closely with academic, research and professional staff. The postholder will be provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues on all aspects of research impact, including REF2029 and impact funding.
You will act as a key internal point of contact for all matters relating to the development and monitoring of the social and economic impact of research at the University of Hertfordshire. You will become an expert on the requirements of the next Research Excellence Framework, answering queries about requirements, explaining guidance, and advising case study leads and other team members on the development, structuring, drafting and editing of impact case studies in conjunction with academics, other team members and external copywriters as required.
You will line manage the Research Impact Co-Ordinator and other members of the impact team as required.
Skill and experience required
You will have prior experience of developing research impact, along with experience in writing and editing formal documents. You will have experience of working in a higher education research environment, funding agency, charity or similar environment. Ideally you will have experience of the Research Excellence Framework.
You will have the ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with academic and professional colleagues, and external stakeholders, with credibility to engage and influence. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral and the ability to both communicate effectively to influence opinion within a wide audience.
Qualifications required
Educated to Degree level or equivalent, or significant proven professional work experience in a relevant area to the role
