Veritas Pathways is a higher education institution delivering academically rigorous Foundation Year programmes designed to support student progression to leading UK and global universities, including members of the Russell Group. Our programmes equip learners with the scientific, analytical, and academic skills required for entry into medical, biomedical, health sciences, and a wide range of STEM-related degree routes. 

Role Overview: 

Veritas Pathways is seeking to appoint an experienced Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to teach on its specialist Medical Foundation Programme. 

This programme prepares students for progression into competitive undergraduate degrees in medicine and health-related disciplines. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality academic English provision that supports students’ linguistic development, academic literacy, and discipline-specific communication skills. 

This is a part-time teaching appointment, suitable for experienced EAP professionals currently working within UK higher education. 

Programme: University Progression Pathway (Medical Foundation Year)

Class Size: Maximum 20 students

Contract: Part-time/HPL

Campus Location: 1 Dock Rd, London E16 1AH

Key Responsibilities 

  • Deliver high-quality EAP teaching within a medical and scientific academic context
  • Design and prepare lessons aligned with programme learning outcomes
  • Assess student work and provide timely, constructive academic feedback
  • Participate in moderation and standardisation processes
  • Support the development of academic writing, research skills, and presentations
  • Contribute to curriculum development and teaching materials
  • Attend programme meetings and professional development activities
  • Provide additional academic support where required
  • Undertake duties appropriate to the role as assigned by the Programme Leader 

Person Specification 

Essential

  • Degree qualification (TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English, Education or related discipline preferred)
  • Recognised TESOL qualification with assessed teaching practice (e.g., CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent)
  • Applicants must have proven competence and experience teaching EAP within a higher education setting. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of academic English for STEM or medical pathways
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an academic team
  • Strong digital literacy and experience using virtual learning environments

Desirable

  • Experience teaching at a Russell Group university
  • DELTA / Trinity DipTESOL or Master’s degree in TESOL / Applied Linguistics / EAP
  • Experience teaching on foundation or pre-sessional programmes
  • Experience supporting students progressing into medical or health science degrees 

Salary

£45 – £55 per hour (commensurate with qualifications and experience)
