The Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience (PDN) is seeking a Health & Safety Technician to support the Department's compliance with the University's health and safety requirements. PDN is a large, welcoming, and inclusive Department with an exceptional international record in teaching and research.
This role is a key part of the departmental safety team comprising the Health & Safety Coordinator, Facilities & Operations Manager, Business & Operations Manager, Heads of Department, and other academic staff with responsibilities for health and safety.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Coordinator, the Health & Safety Technician will perform a range of technical and administrative duties and provide advice and guidance to support a safe working environment in the Department, which is mostly housed in the Anatomy and the Physiology Buildings on the Downing Site.
You will be educated to at least A Level standard or equivalent or possess a comparable level of practical experience. While training will be provided, experience of working in a laboratory environment is essential. The successful candidate will be highly organised, computer literate, and able to work flexibly and in support of team members. Good communication and people skills are also prerequisites for the role, which involves interacting with a wide range of stakeholders in the Department, and proactively building networks of staff working in similar roles across the School of Biological Sciences.
The position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, though we also welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working (minimum 30 hpw) or other flexible working arrangements.
Informal enquiries should be directed to Vickie Brooks, Health & Safety Coordinator, vh314@cam.ac.uk .
