As the Surveys and Data Evaluation Officer, you will support the Surveys and Data Insight Analysts in delivering the reporting requirements of the service, using internal and external data sets (e.g. curriculum data, data from statutory student returns, and programme and module evaluations). You will contribute to the development of services that support academic schools in enhancing the design, development, management and review of academic programmes. You will have experience of handling complex data sets and will use your excellent analytical skills to produce clear and accessible information.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To support the Performance and Data Evaluation team in the collection, transformation, management and use of curriculum and related performance data used and managed by S&AS. For example, student programme and module outcome data, HESA Student data, and module and programme evaluation data.
  • To contribute to the production of business intelligence, using large internal and external datasets. This will include:
    • interpreting business requirements to ensure that colleagues across the University have the information they need to make decisions regarding the development and delivery of academic programmes.
    • ensuring that information is accurate, well presented, and that deadlines are met.
    • communicating with colleagues to ensure that data is understood, and that assumptions are clearly articulated.
    • providing support to a diverse group of stakeholders with the manipulation, interpretation and dissemination of management information.
  • To assist with the running of the annual National Student Survey for the University, working with the Surveys and Data Evaluation Analyst to ensure that academic and professional services staff have the information they require to engage with the process.
  • To assist with the running of student module and programme evaluation surveys for the University. Working with the Surveys and Data Evaluation Analyst to liaise with colleagues across departments, preparing surveys, and contributing to the collection and analysis of associated data.
  • To work effectively with colleagues across S&AS, professional services, and academic departments to maximise performance in relation to external OfS measures and benchmarks.
  • To work with the Academic Programmes and Quality team to support the use of data in relation to Annual Reflection and the wider Quality Management framework.
  • To provide support to academic departments in analysing and understanding qualitative and quantitative performance data at an operational level.
  • As a member of our Professional staff, you will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to the professional behaviours set out in the Sheffield Professional Framework.
