The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Trento invites expressions of interest for a direct call of a Senior Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or of an Associate Professor in Statistics – (STAT-01/A). This position is reserved for academics with a permanent position abroad.
The tenure-track position (RTT) is a fixed-term six-year contract that leads (possibly after the first three years) to Associate professorship upon obtainment of the national scientific qualification and positive evaluation by the University.
This opportunity is aimed at candidates with a strong mathematical background and a solid research record in methodological or applied statistics, particularly in areas such as statistical inference (with emphasis on estimation and hypothesis testing), nonparametric and semiparametric methods, multivariate analysis, computational statistics, and statistical learning.
The position implies both research and teaching. Teaching activities will be either in Italian or English.Knowledge of Italian is considered an asset. The teaching load is of 90 hours (two courses at undergraduate/master level) per year.

Research
The University of Trento has been ranked in top positions by national rankings, and it is well positioned in international ones. The Department of Economics and Management features a multidisciplinary research covering most research areas in the statistics, economic and management domains. Its faculty counts 75 people working in formal and informal research groups that count a vast network of national and international collaborations. Research activities range from theoretical to empirical research, from quantitative to experimental methods, from the analysis of case studies to computer simulations. Department Teaching
The Department offers three undergraduate degrees (in Italian) plus one in English, seven master degrees (three in Italian and four in English), it contributes to two PhD programs, and it is consistently ranked among the top Economics and Management departments in Italy.
Terms and Conditions
To be eligible for “direct appointment from abroad”, applicants must have been employed as faculty members or research staff at a foreign university (or research institute) for at least three consecutive years, and must hold an equivalent academic position at their current foreign university.
The annual gross salary for the position of Senior Assistant Professor (tenure-track) is 46,450 and for the position of Associate Professor is € 52,047.58. In compliance with Italian law, the University of Trento will cover social security charges and health care. Researchers who have not been resident in Italy in the past two years may benefit from a special tax exemption.
The nominee will receive a maximum personal grant of €12,000 for research expenses.
