About the role
You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Bodleian Libraries Facilities Management team, providing a professional, customer-focused service across the University estate. You will assist with first line maintenance tasks, the movement of furniture and equipment, and with the delivery of items across the University estate as required. You will also support emergency responses to help protect people, buildings and collections, maintain accurate records, and respond to enquiries by telephone, email and in person.
The role involves regular driving duties, including operating library vehicles such as vans and minibuses for transporting people and goods, as well as basic vehicle maintenance and cleaning. You will assist with opening and closing buildings, setting and un/setting alarms on a shift pattern, sorting and distributing mail, and undertaking domestic and support tasks in sensitive or restricted areas. You will be expected to comply at all times with Health and Safety legislation and University policies, and to provide cover for colleagues during periods of staff absence or high demand.
This is a permanent, full-time post, working 36.5 hours per week.
About You
You will hold a current driving licence and have experience of driving in a city environment, along with experience of working in a customer-facing role. You will be able to work effectively with colleagues at all levels, operate as part of a team with minimal supervision, and demonstrate flexibility in your approach to work. You will be able to undertake manual handling and lifting tasks, maintain accurate records, and be confident using IT systems including email and Microsoft Office applications. You will have experience of working in a position of trust and possess a good standard of written and spoken English, enabling you to communicate clearly and professionally.
