About the role

Homerton College are looking to recruit two Café Assistants: one full-time post (37 hours per week, working 5 in 7 days (including weekends and bank holidays) and one part-time post (15 – 22.5 hours per week, across 2 or 3 days. For the part-time post, shifts will either be from 8am – 4pm or 10am – 6pm, with availability for one weekend per month preferred. You will join our Catering team assisting and supporting the delivery of food and beverages to our students, Fellows and staff as well as our conference and banqueting guests.

The successful candidate will ensure that customers experience high levels of service and hygiene by ensuring all areas are clean and tidy and the appropriate levels of service equipment and cutlery are available at all times. You will also ensure that all foods are well presented and replenished as needed.

The role will involve displaying appropriate point of sale and merchandising and following financial regulations.

As a Café Assistant ideally you should have previous experience of working in café or college environment. They must be able to work effectively in a team and to work flexibly. The successful candidate must also have good working knowledge of Health and Safety procedures in the workplace. Given the varied community at Homerton College, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key.
