The Department of Clinical & Biomedical Sciences (CBS) alongside Devon Partnership Trust, is seeking to recruit a Clinical Consultant Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Biological Psychiatry (level of appointment dependent on experience).
The role
This is a strategically important position for the Department and Medical School as we seek to expand capacity in translational mental health and neuroscience, strengthen clinical links with local NHS trusts across the South-West peninsula and build on our international reputation in mental health, neuroscience and genomics research.
We are particularly interested in psychiatrists working in the area of severe mental illness (e.g. schizophrenia, psychosis, major depression, child and adolescent mental health) who can work alongside our world-leading scientists working in basic neuroscience, cell biology, neurogenomics and data science. The successful applicant will work closely with the NIHR-funded Exeter Biomedical Research Centre to build our capacity in translational psychiatry.
We are looking for a leading or emerging (depending on grade) international figure with the ability to attract world-class academics to their research group. Applicants will be innovative researchers with a top-flight track record of research funding and international quality publications. More junior applicants should have demonstrable potential to attract significant research funding.
As a key strategic appointment, we will offer a competitive package, supported by a start-up fund, to ensure that the successful applicant can create a transformative translational clinical research programme at the University of Exeter. It is expected that the successful candidate will undertake clinical session(s) with Devon Partnership Trust, please see the job description for further details.
Please ensure that you read the Job Descriptions and Person Specifications (available on the university's website, accessed by the 'Apply' button) for full details of this role at Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor level.
Please note that the job description at Associate Lecturer level remains subject to Royal College approval. Any amends will be circulated accordingly.
