About us:

King’s Business School is the ninth and newest faculty at King’s College London. The School seeks to recruit a full-time Professor of Economics to add significantly to the Department of Economics’ research and teaching capacity and take a leading role in promoting the visibility of economics at King’s. We are looking for a distinguished scholar who already has an outstanding international profile in the field of economics and has academic excellence in publications. We are part of an internationally renowned university with a track record of pioneering thinking. We welcome candidates in any sub discipline of economics.

The Department of Economics has expanded rapidly in recent years and has hired some aspiring young staff who are publishing in the top journals. The Department would like to hire a senior person who can provide mentorship and be a role model for these colleagues, as well as raising the profile of the Department.

About the role:

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to high quality research and will be able to contribute excellent teaching to the development of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You should hold a PhD in a relevant field, have academic excellence in publications in leading refereed journals and in securing research income.

This is a full-time post, and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

Research staff at King’s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. This entitlement, from the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, applies to Postdocs, Research Assistants, Research and Teaching Technicians, Teaching Fellows and AEP equivalent up to and including grade 7. About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. PhD qualified in relevant subject area.
  2. Significant evidence of world-class standing in the discipline of economics and significant academic excellence in publications in top-tier journals
  3. Significant experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and significant experience of innovation in teaching and curriculum design
  4. Significant experience of carrying out academic administration
  5. Significant evidence of participation in, and leadership of, external networks (conference papers, workshops, memberships)
  6. Demonstrable evidence of developing and leading research projects and of grant capture
  7. Willingness to collaborate with colleagues in the Department, the wider Business School and the College, and to mentor junior colleagues
Desirable criteria
  1. Significant evidence of generating impact.
